mental health doula

As a mental health doula, I offer compassionate, autonomy-centered support for those navigating psychosis, spiritual awakening, or neurodivergent diagnosis.

Rooted in critical psychiatry and decolonial spiritual practice, my approach reframes crisis as carrying wisdom, honors self-determination, and supports integration through ritual, care practices, and embodied strategies.

Six flexible 90–120 minute sessions over 6–9 months,

tailored to your experiences:

  • Diagnostic integration

A new diagnosis can shift the lens through which you see your entire life. These sessions create space to reprocess your story alongside this new lens with compassion, tending to old wounds that may surface and integrating them into a fuller sense of self. Together, we might use inner child work, narrative reframing, and other practices to support you in weaving a diagnosis into your life in ways that feel empowering rather than limiting. Drawing on critical sociology, we also recognize that diagnosis is not simply descriptive but productive — it shapes meaning, identity, and possibility. With this awareness, we’ll explore how you want to relate to your diagnosis, ensuring it serves your agency, dignity, and growth.

  • Medical Empowerment

Together, we explore critical psychiatry, decolonial approaches to mental health, and practical tools for navigating care systems. These sessions are about centering your autonomy: understanding misdiagnoses, exploring sensory accommodations, and practicing effective communication with providers through role-play. You’ll also receive guidance on choosing between self-diagnosis and formal diagnosis, accessing affirming resources, and identifying practitioners who respect your identity. If needed, we’ll also cover how to recognize and respond to cultural, racial, or gender bias in care.

  • altered state support

I support you through altered states of consciousness — psychosis, suicidality, meltdowns, and shutdowns — with care informed by decolonial and critical psychiatry approaches that see distress as carrying potent insight and medicine. Together, we create safety plans so you feel prepared, and I offer on-call support (for ongoing clients) to help you stay grounded and not alone. If medical care is involved, I provide advocacy to ensure your autonomy is respected. Afterward, we move into integration, exploring the wisdom within these altered states and weaving it back into your life.

  • spiritual rebirthing

Spiritual awakenings can be profound, disorienting, and deeply transformative. In these sessions, we tend to the symptoms and gifts of awakening while grounding them safely in daily life. Together we explore how colonization has shaped reality and learn practices for decolonizing the mind and spirit. You’ll also receive guidance for finding aligned mentors, safely opening channels of communication with spirit, and making meaning from awakening experiences in an affirming container.

  • accomodations planning

Assistance in mapping and building a community network that honors your bodymind, understands your accommodations, and can respond when your support is needed. I also provide guidance and advocacy to ensure your accommodations are respected in workplaces, schools, and other environments. This includes personalized strategies for sensory, cognitive, and emotional support, as well as practical planning and coping tools to make daily life more sustainable and empowering.

  • sacred space holding

A confidential, non-judgmental space to be with your story. Here, you can process diagnosis, disability and ability, lived experience, identity, sensory life, and emotional intensity without fear of judgment. Sessions may include rituals, energy work, narrative play, and reflective conversation, honoring your bodymind’s wisdom while creating space for clarity, insight, relief, and empowerment.

  • Additional Support

Accompaniment & Advocacy: Support during in-person or virtual medical appointments, helping you communicate your needs and maintain autonomy.

Referrals: Connections to trusted clinicians, therapists, and affirming providers.

  • Crisis & Safety Support

Proactive Planning: Together, we create a care plan for moments of intensity — meltdowns, shutdowns, dysregulation, psychosis, mania, or suicidal ideation.

On-Call Support: (available only with a pre-existing relationship, after at least one prior session) Compassionate presence, safety planning, and accompaniment so you don’t have to navigate acute states alone.

Service Navigation: If you choose to engage with mental health services during crisis, I can walk with you through the process, helping you maintain dignity, autonomy, and advocacy for your needs.
